Technical Data

How Aqua Shield HD Works

Aqua Shield HD works using advanced fluorine chemistry and nano technology. It reacts with the surface pores to leave an invisible, breathable, protective barrier against water and oil-based staining.

Unlike an acrylic (topical) sealer — which sits on top of the surface like an expensive "cling wrap" that eventually yellows and peels — Aqua Shield HD penetrates and becomes part of the substrate, chemically protecting it from within. Because it's non-film-forming, it can't peel or flake, and the surface stays breathable.

Penetrating vs Topical (Acrylic) Sealers

Stain Resistance & Care

Sealers are designed to offer resistance to water and/or oil-based stains. Under certain conditions, however, all sealers will fail — these conditions are always related to the type of stain and how long it stays on the substrate. Aqua Shield HD is a superior quality penetrating sealer which offers one of the highest stain-resistant protection capabilities available. It is designed with the latest technology to bond with substrate capillary surfaces, providing a protective barrier to oil and water-based stains.

The capillaries of the substrate remain open, allowing the substrate to breathe — which avoids many of the common problems associated with other sealers: flaking, bubbling, peeling, delaminating and poor bonding.

It’s important that any stains are cleaned off immediately, as prolonged contact increases the likelihood of permanent staining.

Product Features

  • Deep penetrating and impregnating — becomes part of the substrate
  • Advanced fluoro-bond nano technology
  • Water-based, non-flammable and odourless — no toxic fumes
  • Non-film forming — will never peel or flake
  • Highly breathable — allows water vapour to escape
  • Superior stain resistance against oil, grease, graffiti, coffee and wine
  • Doesn't alter the surface's coefficient of friction or slip rating
  • Anti-bacterial and silica-dust protection
  • Efflorescence, salt attack and stain protection
  • Reduces moss, mould and algae growth
  • Reduces corrosion attack on steel reinforcing
  • Retains the natural look — won't etch, alter or discolour
  • Alkali resistant and food safe
  • Salt barrier — ideal around saltwater pools and marinas
  • Quick-dry formula; can be applied while the surface is still damp

Surfaces & Application

Suitable surfaces

Designed for granite, bluestone, travertine, limestone, slate, sandstone, terracotta, porcelain, ceramic tiles, concrete, and all types of pavers and roof tiles.

How to apply

  1. Always do a trial on a small test patch first.
  2. Make sure the surface is clean — it can be dry or still damp, but not dirty.
  3. Protect adjacent areas from splashing or overspray.
  4. Apply liberally by low-pressure sprayer, lamb's wool applicator, bristle broom, brush or roller.
  5. Flood-coat the surface to a "wet" look — don't let the product pool.
  6. Wipe, broom or buff off any excess after 15 minutes with a clean, dry cloth or floor pad.
  7. Allow to dry — walk on after 4 hours; full cure in 24 hours.
